Calgary

Day 1
​

Welcome to Calgary, a celebration of western heritage and cosmopolitan culture that provides engaging experiences year-round. It enjoys more sunshine than any other Canadian city, making it a four-season destination ripe for exploration.

 

The city is full of hidden gems and must visit attractions, including: the iconic Calgary Tower; the Calgary Stampede’s Sam Centre; Studio Bell, the home of the National Music Centre; the Alberta Boot Company Experience Centre; the venues of the 1988 Winter Olympics; and Heritage Park Historical Village.

Cowboy Trail

Day 2
Distance - 62 miles

Steeped in history, the Cowboy Trail is a scenic route through Canada’s Rocky Mountain Foothills, along Highway 22. From Calgary, head south towards Bar U Ranch National Historic Site, one of the oldest ranches in Alberta founded in 1882.

 

As you travel through authentic ranch towns and small rural communities, a wide variety of western themed and cultural experiences await: learn how to saddle a horse, try your hand at roping a steer, repair a bridle, ride a horse-drawn wagon or treat yourself to a new pair of leather boots.

Banff, Lake Louise and Banff National Park

Days 3 - 4

Home to countless glacier-fed lakes, glorious peaks and evergreen forests, a visit to Banff National Park is simply unforgettable. Wildlife roams freely here – majestic grizzly bears, moose and even bald eagles remind you that this is truly untamed wilderness.

 

Walk the jaw-dropping boardwalks of Johnston Canyon or hike through pine-scented forests, emerging at viewpoints that make you feel on top of the world. Canoe on the surreal blue waters of Moraine Lake or take a scenic boat cruise on Lake Minnewanka. Explore the otherworldly beauty of the Cave and Basin National Historic Site, the birthplace of Canada’s National Parks, or experience a feel of the wild west on horseback. Icefield Parkway to Jasper

Day 5

Officially known as Highway 93 North, the Icefields Parkway in Alberta offers one of the most spectacular drives in the world, winding through the majestic Canadian Rockies between Lake Louise and Jasper. This scenic route is famous for its panoramic views of towering peaks, vast glaciers and sparkling blue lakes such as Peyto Lake and Bow Lake.

 

The Columbia Icefield is a must-experience highlight, where you can take in the stunning views from the Glacier Skywalk or venture onto the Athabasca Glacier with guided tours. Unforgettable stops await at Sunwapta Falls and Athabasca Falls, where powerful cascades surge through rugged rock formations, creating an impressive spectacle. Surrounded by Jasper National Park’s dramatic peaks and lush valleys, there are endless opportunities to immerse yourself in the great outdoors, from hiking the Sulphur Skyline Trail with its panoramic mountain views to cycling along the scenic Athabasca River. Water enthusiasts can go paddleboarding on Patricia Lake or take a tranquil canoe ride on Pyramid Lake. Day 8

Métis Crossing

Day 9

The site is located along the North Saskatchewan River, a historically significant area for the Métis nation, making it the perfect place to connect with the land and its history.

Return to Edmonton

Day 10
