Edmonton

Nature and culture come together in Edmonton, Alberta’s capital city, a vibrant urban centre in the heart of the wilderness. With a population of just over one million, Edmonton is Canada’s largest northernmost metropolis.
Here visitors will find everything from big city outings to free outdoor experiences, immersive museums and a packed calendar of world class events, which have given Edmonton the nickname ‘Canada’s Festival City’. Whether you get to see nature come to life in the spring, experience what 18 hours of sunlight a day feels like in the summer or how the winter’s first snowflakes transform the river landscape, Edmonton is the perfect end (or beginning!) to your trip in Alberta.

Immerse in Nature

Nature is never too far away in Edmonton. The easily accessible North Saskatchewan River Valley is the longest stretch of connected urban parkland in the continent, with countless outdoor activities on offer; while Elk Island National Park, Canada’s largest fully enclosed park, is a refuge for native wildlife such as moose, elk, bison, lynx, black bears and grey wolves (bonus tip: if you are there in the winter, it is also an incredible place to search for the Northern Lights).
