Regions of Alberta

Wild and wonderful, Alberta is one of Canada’s 13 provinces and territories, situated in the western part of the country. It is bordered by British Columbia to the west, the Northwest Territories to the north, Saskatchewan to the east and shares its southern border with the U.S. state of Montana.
Steeped in history and spanning a vast pristine area of more than 250,000 square miles, Alberta comprises several distinct natural landscapes – from the majestic Canadian Rockies that dominate Alberta’s geography in the west to the expansive golden prairies and the surreal Badlands scenery in the east.
More than half of Alberta’s population lives in the vibrant metropolitan areas of Calgary and Edmonton. Set in a spectacular natural setting, they are among the top five largest cities in Canada, with a rich cultural scene, must-visit attractions and countless entertainment options.
